Cope Lab
Committed to advance our understanding of the role of the human microbiome in chronic and progressive diseases.
Research Foci
The Cope Lab investigates how microbial communities across the body interact with one another and with the human host to influence health and disease. Our research focuses on understanding the role of the microbiome in the onset and progression of chronic and progressive diseases, including inflammatory airway conditions and neurodegenerative disorders.
We take an interdisciplinary approach that integrates microbiology, immunology, and multi-omic analyses to examine how shifts in microbial diversity and community structure are linked to disease states. By studying both localized and systemic microbiome-host interactions, we aim to generate insights that support the development of microbiome-informed diagnostics and therapeutics.
